'TORONTO 18' WANNA-BE JIHADI PLEADS GUILTY.....THEN RELEASED

January 20, 2010 - It is achingly painful to see how naive and kind-hearted the West is sometimes.  It is both our greatest strength and our Achilles heel.  Amin Mohamed Durrani, 23, pled guilty to participating in jihadi training camps on North American soil and attempting to buy property to be used as a safehouse.  Durrani is part of a group dubbed the Toronto 18 who, among other terrorist acts, planned to storm Canada's parliment and chop off the head of the Prime Minister.  Instead, Durrani, who said he felt "stupid" for his "mistakes," was to be released hours after confessing his guilt.  He has been in pre-trial custody since June 2006 and was sentenced by Justice Bruce Durno to 7 1/2 years and credited with time served. Durrani's plans upon his release?  He hopes to complete his studies in electrical engineering, which I'm certain he would never use for terrorist activities such as bomb-building and IED detonators, right?  Click below for story.

January 19, 2010 - As America increasingly recognizes that profiling, while unpleasant, is a necessity in today's world where protecting the homeland trumps political correctness, radical Islamists are making in-roads in attracting the sort of terrorist candidates that will slip unnoticed past profiling security officers.  U.S. law enforcement officials in Yemen are on "heightened alert because of the potential threat from extremists carrying American passports," the report said.  Also of concern to U.S. officials, the Senate staff found, is a group of "nearly 10" ex-convicts who are "non-Yemeni Americans who traveled to Yemen, converted to Islam, became fundamentalists and married Yemeni women so they could remain in the country."  An American official described them as "blond-haired, blue eyed-types" who fit the profile of Americans who al Qaeda has sought to recruit for terror missions.  Click below for story.

January 18, 2010 - "Don't kill me, don't kill me," she said, according to the man who wanted to remain anonymous. A few minutes later, more than 50 men threw stones. Human rights group Amnesty International says the victim was a 13-year-old girl who had been gang-raped by 3 men.  Under sharia law, it is virtually impossible to prove the crime of rape, as Islam requires 3 witnesses to such an attack.  If a rape victim is unable to produce the witnesses, she is often at risk of being tried and condemned for adultery, a crime punishable by death under sharia (click here for more information on sharia law and oppression of women under Islam) .  Click below for story.

January 18, 2010 - A Saudi Arabian father sold his 11-year-old daughter into marriage to an 80-year-old Muslim man for a price of $22,000, despite the wishes of the girl and her mother.  Stated the father, "I don't care about her age.  Her health and her body build make her fit for marriage. U.S. ATTORNEY INVESTIGATING MERGING OF TERRORISM & DRUGS

January 18, 2010 - The United States attorney in Manhattan is merging the two units in his office that prosecute terrorism and international narcotics cases, saying that he wants to focus more on extremist Islamic groups whose members he believes are increasingly turning to the drug trade to finance their activities.  United States Attorney Preet Bharara is merging two divisions in his Manhattan office. Some Western law enforcement and intelligence agencies have long pointed to what they say are the symbiotic relationships that sometimes exist between terrorist groups and narcotics traffickers, from Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Hezbollah in the Middle East to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.  But the move by the United States attorney, Preet Bharara, comes as United States officials have suggested that some members of Islamic extremist groups, including Al Qaeda and some of its affiliates, are more frequently turning to the drug trade -- as well as kidnapping and other criminal activities -- to help finance their operations.  Click below for story.

RADICAL ISLAMIST CHOUDARY TALKS COUP IN BRITIAN, SHARIA

January 18, 2010 - Choudary, whose group Islam4UK was recently banned in Britain, has been shut down before: a previous group he belonged to, Al-Muhajiroun, was banned in 2004. Jointly led by Choudary and Omar Bakri Mohammed, a fundamentalist cleric from Syria known as the Tottenham Ayatollah until he was excluded from Britain by Charles Clarke in 2005, Al-Muhajiroun had referred to the 9/11 bombers as "the magnificent 19". The group has been linked to several terrorists, including Asif Hanif, the British suicide bomber who blew himself up outside a supermarket in Tel Aviv in 2003, and members of the "fertiliser bomb plot" who had aimed to target the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent, the Ministry of Sound nightclub and the UK’s gas network before they were rumbled by MI5.  Choudary believes Britian will become an Islamic nation under sharia law, stating "I think that we can live here and propagate Islam and one day we will implement the sharia here." January 18, 2010 - Zakaria Amara, 24, pleaded guilty in October to co-leading the Islamist militant group dubbed the Toronto 18.  The group's targets included the city's stock exchange and a military base.  The planned truck bombings were part of a wider plot by the terror cell to carry out a series of attacks in Ontario province, the BBC's Lee Carter reports from Toronto.  They included storming the parliament buildings in Ottawa and beheading the prime minister.  Click below for story.

January 17, 2010 - Anjem Choudary is the British-born founder of Islam4UK, a radical Islamic group protesting UK involvement in any wars with Arab nations and calling for the implementation of strict sharia law in the UK.  Britain recently banned Islam4UK for its hate-mongering and incitement activities.  Ironically, British taxpayers are forced to support Choudary, his wife, and their 4 children, all of whom live on UK welfare equivalent to more than $40,000 (U.S.).  Apparently, not working and contributing to British society leave Choudary plenty of free time to rage against the very country that cares for his family.  Choudary also seems to be taking his cues from Obama Socialism, stating that under sharia law, everyone would have "free food, clothing and shelter" because, you know, money grows on trees.  Click below for story.

OBAMA CONSIDERING DOMESTIC GITMO TRAIL - THIS TIME IN D.C.

January 15, 2010 - The Obama administration is considering a criminal trial in Washington for the Guantanamo Bay detainee suspected of masterminding the bombing of a Bali nightclub that killed 202 people, a plan that would bring one of the world's most notorious terrorism suspects just steps from the U.S. Capitol, The Associated Press has learned. Riduan Isamuddin, better known as Hambali, was allegedly Osama bin Laden's point man in Indonesia and, until his capture in August 2003, was believed to be the main link between al-Qaida and Jemaah Islamiyah, the terror group blamed for the 2002 bombing on the island of Bali.  Other terrorism trials also may occur in Washington and New York City under a proposal being discussed within the Obama administration, according to U.S. officials briefed on the plan, who spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss private planning meetings.  Authorities already have begun discussing the intense security measures needed to bring Hambali and others before a Washington federal judge, the officials said.  Click below for story.

YOUNG MAN SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR BURNING KORAN

January 15, 2010 - On January 11, a judge in Faisalabad, Pakistan, convicted a Christian young man, Imran Masih, for defiling, damaging and desecrating the extracts of the Holy Quran and sentenced to life imprisonment. He is now in judicial lockup of District Jail Faisalabad to serve out the sentences awarded to him.  Masih, a shopkeeper in the town, was indicted and arrested on charges of blasphemy law after he cleaned his shop of paper trash and leftover books, placing them in a barrel and burning them.  When neighboring shopkeepers noticed, they accused him of buring pages of the Koran.  The Muslims of the area then severely beat the man and damaged his shop. The story spread among the mosques of the surrounding area, started inciting Muslims to take part in the assault, to take revenge from Christians for this outrageous act. A large number of Muslims including clerics assembled, they staged a protest, blocked the roads, chanted slogans against Christian and demanded shouting "Death to blasphemers in public". January 15, 2010 - It's known as the Coca Cola plane. In early November, drug traffickers landed a Boeing 727 in the Malian desert in Gao state and offloaded between 10 and 12 million tons of cocaine. Then, rather than fly it back across the Atlantic to Latin America, they simply burnt it, treating it like a used Coke can.  The terrain of northern Mali is stark desert, and a haven for Islamist insurgents with close ties to Al Qaeda. Initially, investigators thought the plane had crashed in the desert on take off. But now, based on the fact that the plane was largely intact, many experts suspect that the drug cartels – perhaps in coordination with their Al Qaeda partners – burnt the plane deliberately.  According to UN reports, nearly 60 percent of the cocaine sold in Europe transits through weak West African states such as Mali, Niger, Mauritania, and Guinea Bissau – a flow of cash and contraband that undermines the credibility of each country’s ability to govern itself.  As many of these same countries are now becoming a haven for a shadowy group calling itself Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), there are growing concerns that Islamist radicals and Latin American drug cartels may be working together, both to enrich themselves and to weaken the law enforcement capability of those West African states.  Click below for story.

19% INCREASE IN ISLAMIC TERROR ATTACKS IN N. RUSSIA

January 15, 2010 - Russian officials have said that foreign training and funding has contributed to a surge in violence by Islamist insurgents in recent months in its volatile north Caucasus regions, including Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan. "At military bases in Georgia, terrorist groups are trained by foreign instructors to carry out attacks in Russia," Deputy Interior Minister Arkady Yedelev told police officials in the Caucasus town of Vladikavkaz, RIA news agency reported. He did not directly accuse the Georgian government of complicity and did not say what nationality the instructors were. Russia has in the past accused Arab fighters of providing training to Chechen rebels, though not specifically in Georgia. Georgia and Russia have been at loggerheads since a five-day war last August in which Moscow rebuffed a Georgian attempt to retake the breakaway region of South Ossetia. January 15, 2010 - Federal officials say there is no imminent threat of a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, but a source cites a "palpable level of angst" among those in the intelligence community. "I have not seen people this ramped up on the terror front like this for probably two years," said the source, who is familiar with the probe into Christmas Day's attempted airplane bombing. Information gained since the botched terror attack last month on a Northwest Airlines flight has U.S. officials concerned that al Qaeda in Yemen has "trained and equipped...viable operatives" to strike U.S. targets, including those unrelated to aviation, the source said. January 15, 2010 - According to the prosecution, the 22 year old man was arrested at Dubai International Airport in July 20 in possession of homemade pornographic material. He has denied the charges. It’s alleged that he circulated images of himself in make up and dressed in a hijab-like veil, reading the Quran. January 14, 2010 - In further evidence that fundamental Islam is not compatible with Western or European ideals, The Times disclosed that children as young as nine have been rescued from forced marriages under new special protection orders.  The nine-year-olds were among 86 females granted the civil safeguards in the 12 months since the forced marriage protection orders were introduced. Nearly half of the applicants, 39, were children with some as young as nine, the Ministry of Justice confirmed.  Fareed Chedie, spokesman for the Muslim Arbitration Tribunal, set up in 2007 to provide a viable alternative for the Muslim community seeking to resolve disputes in accordance with Sharia, said his research had disclosed that the problem was much greater than many realised. January 13, 2010 - Dearborn, MI lawyer, Majed Moughni, who led a small group of protestors outside the courthouse where Underwear Bomber Abdulmutallab appeared for the first time, is now himself a target of radical Islam.  Moughni, a devout Muslim American, led the protest under the slogan of "Not in the Name of Islam" to denounce Islamic terrorism in the name of religion.  Rather than being heralded as the hero he is for standing up to these animals, Moughni instead received a death threat from a fellow Muslim, which is now under investigation.  This is precisely the uphill battle Muslims face, where they are as much the victims of radical Islamic terrorism as Westerners and non-Muslims are.  Click below for video story.

January 13, 2010 - Four years after cartoons of the prophet Muhammad set off violent protests across the Muslim world, Islamic nations are mounting a campaign for an international treaty to protect religious symbols and beliefs from mockery - essentially a ban on blasphemy that would put them on a collision course with free speech laws in the West.  Documents obtained by The Associated Press show that Algeria and Pakistan have taken the lead in lobbying to eventually bring the proposal to a vote in the U.N. OBAMA'S GITMO DISASTER - DETAINEES RELEASED TO KILL AGAIN

January 13, 2010 - If a radical Islamic terrorist looks at you with puppy dog eyes and promises "never, ever to kill another American", do you believe him and set him free in terrorist countries?  Apparently, that is precisely what President Obama does in the interest of protecting the homeland.  Obama's embarrassment and anger at the potentially catastrophic failure of intelligence which allowed Abdulmutallab (the Undy Bomber) to board a Detroit-bound plane has been compounded by the revelation that two of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula's (AQAP) founders, Said al-Shihri and Mohammed al-Awfi, were both former Guantanamo detainees.  In total, 120 Saudi detainees have been repatriated from Gitmo.  One group, Batch 10, included 14 detainees who were flown home to Saudi Arabia just over two years ago.  The Saudi government's aim was to put them through its controversial de-radicalisation or Care programme, with a view to rehabilitating its "beneficiaries" in society.  Did the 'terrorist rehab' work?  Not really.  Of the 14 radicals in Batch 10, 5 of them completed the rehab and then fled to Yemen, where they formed a new terrorist group (AQAP).  So much for paint therapy and rehab.  Click below for story.

SOMALI MAN WHIPPED FOR SEDUCING LADY, AS SHARIA LAW DICTATES

January 11, 2010 - THE Al-Qaeda-linked Shebab group's religious police in the Somali city of Kismayo flogged a man for flirting and another for having a 'secret marriage', an official said on Monday.  They received 15 and 39 lashes respectively in front of a crowd in central Kismayo, a large southern harbour which has been under Shebab administration since mid-2008 and where a strict form of Sharia is enforced.  'One of the young men was found engaging in secret wedlock which is illegal under Islamic law,' Sheikh Mohamed Moalim, a senior Shebab official, told AFP from Kismayo. 'The other one was found seducing a lady alone. Both of them confessed to the charges in front of a court and they were publicly punished,' he said.  The flogging took place over the weekend. January 10, 2010 - Images of Islam's prophet Muhammad may soon disappear from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's permanent display, in a move aimed to avoid offending Muslims, The New York Post reported Sunday. This Ottoman miniature from the Siyer-i Nebi shows Islam's prophet Mohammed in the typical way he was portrayed in Islamic art after the ban on showing him was put in place. The prophet is shown faceless, kneeling at the Kaaba, Mecca. The museum currently displays about 60 items from a collection of some 60,000 Islamic artifacts in a corner of its vast second-floor Great Hall while larger galleries are being renovated at a cost of $50 million. January 10, 2010 - Britain is set to ban a Muslim group that recently caused outrage by proposing a demonstration in the town that receives the bodies of British war dead killed abroad, the Home Office said Sunday.  The ban would prevent Al-Muhajiroun, also known as Islam4UK, from having meetings or raising money. Attending a meeting or being a member of Al-Muhajiroun or Islam4UK would be a criminal offense, a Home Office spokesman said. The spokesman declined to be named, in line with government policy. Said Coudary, Islam4UK's controversial leader, a ban "will just make the use of those names....illegal, but Muslims everywhere are obliged to work collectively to establish the Islamic State and Sharia law in the UK or wherever they are -- those things can't change," he added.  Click below for story.
