December 22, 2009 - In the escalating war between the north and south of Russia, the number of terrorist attacks in the North Caucasus grew by 30 percent this year, Vladimir Ustinov, the president’s envoy to the Southern Federal District, said Tuesday. Ustinov said 786 terrorist attacks were carried out in his district in the first 11 months of 2009, compared to 576 in the whole of last year.
