November 29, 2009 - In Jakarta, hardline Muslim protestors urged the government to institute Islamic shari'ah law in order to "prevent the spread of HIV" by closing brothels and banning condoms. Given that shari'ah law imposes capital punishment on those committing illegal sexual acts, such as sex outside of wedlock or homosexual activity, it would seem that condoms would not be necessary to stop HIV since those who would ordinarily wear them would be killed.
